If you want to compare something to Super Metroid for SNES, you should 
compare the newer Gameboy Advance version.

Metroid Fusion is quite a good game; although I was always playing PC 
Engine stuff during the SNES lifetime, I saw some video captures of the 
various Metroid games recently on a Nintendo promotional DVD.  Metroid 
Fusion had the highest production values - best framerate, fluid sprite 
animation, and so on.  It's also fun.
