Hello, Turbolist members :).

Today I got a mag "EDGE presents RETRO", in a large
inport bookshop in Japan. That's because the mag
contains "interview to the creator of Defender"

BTW, the RETRO mag reports about PCengine marcket as fellows.

# PC engines turn up in varying states as do Saturn titles.

# The TurboGrafx commands a loyal following among collectors,
# so an extrreamlu busy trader's market exists, both at
# retail and on the internet.

To tell the truth, I don't think so.
The auther maybe overstimate PCengine marcket. :P

Regards.

In Japan, the RETRO mag was priced over 2300yen ($19US)....

Yeah. Maybe 3 years ago. Things have really died down since then. The
demand for a few choice titles is still relatively high, but most
moderately rare titles are treated like junk now on ebay and at used
shops in Japan. The interest in PC Engine collecting was largely a
short-lived craze. And the r elative slowness of this list nowadays demonstrates that perfectly.

What do you expect from a system that is that old. Let's face it, the Turbo
Grafx was an excellent system for its time. I would even say that it was
ahead of its time. The only problem is that the system never really took
off here in the US. In Japan, that was a different story though. The
PC-Engine was very huge. Have games in demand even 3 years ago is quite an
accomplishment. Plus, Implode. What other system has games still being
made for it? The only one that I can think of that is old and still has new
games being made is the PSX. The Turbo had a very good lifetime but even
I'll admit that mine was laid to rest (in its box) to create room for the
PS2 and the XBox. I suppose playing the games is now a nostalgia thing
since the more recent systems blow the doors off from a technology
standpoint. I was saddened the day the Saturn lost out the battle. I was
saddened the day the DC was dropped and I am saddened now that I came to the
conclusion that this system might officially be dead... At least it had
collector support for quite some time. I think there was more craze over
this system than there was for the Saturn and DC combined. People are still
dying to get their hands on Castlevania....
