Subject: Mid Atlantic Game Festival Goes Turbo

Hi listers,
Got some great news, so listen up :-)

1.) BT (our esteemed list founder) will be attending MAG Fest and speaking
on a special Panel about TG/PCE fandom and Implode more specifically. He'll
be bringing IMplode to demo, play, sell, etc and we are having an Implode
tournament that will gain a listing in the Twin Galaxies anually published
book of video game world records. (Many thanks to BT at Mindrec and Walter
Day at Twin Galaxies)

2.) Turbo Zone Direct is supporting MAG Fest with some great prizes and rare
auction items including (correct me if I am wrong here Steve) an Express TV
Adapter. We may also have some rare disply items including the first TG-16
ever produced and the last Duo that ever rolled off the presses. (Many
thanks to Steve Garwood)

3.) Aaron Nanto is putting together a 30-60 minute premier episode of PCE TV
for MAG Fest. I dunno if it will be exclusive, but (once again correct me
here Aaron), it will be seen first at MAG Fest. And we are trying to get
some top notch material for the very special episode. (PCE TV the Movie?)

4.) Finally, the Ys Anime, after almost 15 years, is finally getting a
domestic professional commercial release here in America thanks to Media
Blasters and Anime Works. The release of the first DVD (Ys I eps 1-4) is set
for September and I am currently negotiating to get an advance premier
screener of the DVD for MAG Fest.

5.) I am working on getting at least one small dealer in the vendors room
with some pretty HTF Turbo/PCE stuff. Also, we are scheduling a timed
Dracula X event in as one of our Tournaments.

It's not exclusively Turbo Con, but amazingly close. MAG Fest is in Roanoke,
VA at the Holiday Inn Tanglewood, September 27-29. Go to www.magfest.org
for details.
Thanks for reading
Joe Yamine

Has anyone else noticed that Bonk looks suspicously similar to Dopey
from the Walt Disney movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Perhaps
this is one of those "Separated at birth" things.

Subject: Turbo website down?

Hi -

I just tried to get some files from the Turbo website:

http://joyce.eng.yale.edu/~bt/turbo/

I get the message that the site isn't accepting connections or may be busy.
It's been like this since at least Wednesday - is this just for this week, or
is the site down for a while?

If it's down for a while, is there any way I can get a list of the Japanese
HuCards? I've got several titles I can't ID completely, and I'm working on
the gamesave FAQ update...

Thanks!

-barry

Subject: Marcket report from Osaka Japan,

Hellow, Turbo-list members.

From Osaka, now I can tell you some information.

1: Softmap returns to Used Videogame marcket!

The judgment about "Selling Secondhand Videogame"
finished and the secondhand shops won the right of
selling secondhand videogames.

After the judgment ,one of the most largest shop
in Akihabara and Nipponbashi, Softmap started selling
Secondhand Videogames. The price is lower than other
shops in Nihonbashi,especially for Playstations.

However, some items about PCengine are too high priced
because of less knowledge about old videogames, I think.

2: Some shops opened in Akihabara and Nihonbashi.
[Trader2], [Friends] and some new shops opened in Akihabara.
[+Plus] opened new shop in south side of Nipponbashi.
However, the price is not low as the other gameshops.
These shop mainly sells Videogames in 1980s and 1990s .

Also , most videogame shops re-start selling Famicom' items
and some old videogames. The trend is not only in Akihabara
but also whole of Japan.
Now Famicom marcket is far larger than in 1995 :).

3: "Yahoo Auction Japan" rise up trading charges.
After withdrawal of e-Bay Japan, Yahoo Auction Japan changed
the system. The largest changes are intoroducing its "trading
charge per its price: 3%" and "Yahoo wallet system".

When I'd like to sell items like this,
http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b24584379
I, the seller, have to cost
"Yahoo Auction account fee(350yen / month)"
"Auction exhibittion fee (at least 10 yen / 1 item)" and
"Trading fee(3% of the bidding:For example, on the Auction,
it costs 600yen.)"
Finally, I have to cost 960yen for the Auction in total.

Also, if I mightbe to decolate the Auction, it costs
many option fee ... the system is very troublesome and
costful for sellers. The critical point is that most
seller who NOT being interested in Videogames stopped
selling their videogame items on Auction because of the
10yen charge system and troublesome exhibiting system.
The atmosphere like frea marcket or "Garage sells" is
now lost from Yahoo Auction Japan.

In addition, The seller on Auction have to accept "Yahoo
wallet system" (It is not easy to take the account
from outside Japan.)

In short words, the serious (and less unique) sellers
and serious items are on Auction but you can't find
unique gajets (as good OLD VIDEOGAMEs) easily as before.

BTW, the "10yen fee system" killed most online seller
who exhibit large number of spam-like lists .

(However, most buyer is still watching the Auction.
Only watching auctions is free.)

Regards.

Hi guys,

Yes, we're trying to patch the recent Apache holes on joyce.

Unfortunately, the person responsible (not me) is having a hard time,
which means the website is down. We'll get it back up soon. You
should be able to get the list of items from the turbo list ML server.

Good luck,
Joan

Subject: [O/T] Help needed for Japanese mecha kits

Hey guys...

I'm after the help of a list member in Japan.

There is a model shop called "Yellow Submarine" that sells quirky anime
and mecha, unfortunately, the site in Japanese only, and will not cater
for international orders.

I'm after two mecha kits on there, they *seem* to be in stock, but I have
no way of ordering them:

http://www.yellowsubmarine.co.jp/Shopping/ysoriginal-02-31.htm
http://www.yellowsubmarine.co.jp/Shopping/ysoriginal-02-32.htm

Can anyone help me out here?

Of course I'd pay the purchase cost (6000 yen / $45 / 30UKP each) +
shipping + a little extra for the effort.

Subject: FT: Two PCE games

Hi, all!

While cataloguing my collection, I noticed that I had two duplicates. I
would rather trade than sell these, so I'll pretty much accept ANY trades for
any item I don't already have. I'm only looking for PCE items (NO US items),
and preferably complete for the CD, and literally anything for the HuCard.
Here's what I have:

(1) Sankokushi Eiketsu Tenka Ni Nozomu CD - complete with case and
instruction poster. It's some type of historical SIM from Naxat Soft, #
NXCD0002. I'd like to trade this for anything complete that I don't already
have. If interested in this, just let me know what you have to trade. I
could even post a list of what I have (to my cel website) if anyone prefers
that. %^)

(2) Sadakichi Saban Hideyoshi No Ougon HuCard - loose card, but I've put it
in a slip with a blank HuCard Case/tray. This is Hudson VOl. 14, and it
appears to be some sort of detective game. I'll trade this for anything at
all, complete or not.

If anyone is interested in either or both of these, just let me know at
kerplunk33@aol.com or bcantin@aol.com. Again, right now I'm only interested
in trades for these - but if anyone wants to buy one or both, I'll certainly
listen to offers. %^)

Thanks for your time,

-barry

Subject: Bonk 3 CD?

Hello again...

Does anyone by ANY chance have a spare Bonk 3 CD to sell? It's the only US
title I need to complete my US library. %^) I would also be willing to
trade some items for it, I have many items for many systems.

Thanks,

-barry
