Here's an idea that's probably already been discussed, or perhaps even
done :-)

What about making a program that could be burned to CD and played on the
TG/TD/PCE that contained a library of saved games. You'd have some kind
of menu system to select game saves that you'd like to load into memory
on the console.. Then you could switch to the game itself and use that
saved game..

Call it cheating - I call it a programming challenge :-)

Even crazier, Bt could add the save files to the pcecp database and
users could download CD images from the website containing the save data
and menu system...

:-)

This is a pretty good idea.
Actually, I had already started with something similar a few months ago.
I had reverse-engineered the savegame format for a few games, and wrote a
program for each, to manipulate them completely (rather than just archived
a few savegames).

It's just a few short steps from this, to a more complete system of
savegame restore.

There is also Zeograd's "Nanami" program, which will allow a person to
archive their own backup RAM saved games onto paper, and then onto CDROM,
for later restoration.

For these programs, check out http://www.zeograd.com and the HuC compiler.

It would be pretty good to get a few more ideas together, and then to try
to merge these programs into a unified savegame CDROM system.

just thought i'd put in my support. i think this sounds like a fantastic
idea, and i think just about every turbo-fan would be elated at the
realisation of such an effort. here's to whoever attempts it!
