Subject: Play Implode at the Midwest Classic, June 8th
Hey folks,
Mindrec Communication's "Implode" Super CD for the Turbo Duo will
be playable for the first time this year at the Midwest Classic, June
8th, in Milwaukee at the Pieper Power Center. Also, Bt Garner will be
awarding the winner of the Implode tournament at the show a free copy
of the game with the winner's name in the game. Certainly a very cool
collectable for Turbo Fans! =)
The Midwest Classic is a new game show open to the public that is
similar to say the Philly Classic. It covers everything from early
pong consoles up until the GameCube and a large assortment of classic
computers, as well as pinball, arcades, homebrew projects and other
events. You can find a web page for the event at the end of the press
release below.
If you folks are interested in coming, you could either come and
check things out or you could also show off some classic systems and
games as well. Presently we are missing a Pippen@world and a
SuperGrafx for the gaming museum, and of course I'd love to see as much
Turbo out there as possible too. =) Dealers are also welcome, although
I'm not involved in that aspect.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW TURBO DUO TITLE "IMPLODE" DEBUTS, PLAYABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT THE
MIDWEST CLASSIC
MindRec's excellent Turbo Duo puzzler "Implode" will be shown
exclusively at The Midwest Classic, Pieper Power Center, Milwaukee,
June 8, 2002.
Milwaukee, WI - May 28, 2002 - The Midwest Classic announces
today that MindRec's new Turbo Duo title "Implode" will be playable for
the first time at this year's show in Milwaukee, June 8th. Implode is
the first US Super CD release for the Turbo Duo since the system's
premature death in 1993.
Implode takes a familiar "Tetris" playing field and turns it
upside down. Multicolored blocks are fed from the screen bottom, and
the player must delete groups of 3 or more like-colored blocks. As the
game progresses, so does the difficulty and the opportunity to score
more points. Blocks build to the top of the screen, and the game is
over if the player cannot clear them before they reach the top.
"I'm extremely impressed with what MindRec has been able to
accomplish with Implode," mentions John D. Norman of Die-Hard Gamer,
one of the Midwest Classic's organizers this year. "Not only has Bt
Garner and his staff produced one of the first Turbo Duo titles in
almost a decade in the US, but it's also of a quality and fun I would
have expected out of Hudson Soft, one of the Turbo Duo's best
developers."
Show goers will be able to try out "Implode" for themselves in
the Classic Gaming and Computers Museum, as well as entering in a
tournament held by John D. Norman and sponsored by MindRec. The person
with the highest score at the end of the day will win an exclusive copy
of Implode with the winner's name in the game when it ships in July of
2002.
