It's really too bad something like this has to happen. But, we have his
address right? It's NOT a PO box.... does anyone just live in that area,
maybe you could go over there and kick his ass. :) Seriously, if something
could be done I want to know about it, for future refrence.

OK, THIS IS WHAT EVERYONE WHO GOT RIPPED OFF MUST DO

 > He's been ripping people off for the past 4 or 5 years.
That I can verify, I remember MANY AND MANY dialogues.

FIRST
ANYONE who got scammed by Dan Richards, PRINT ALL EMAILS AND FILE with
the post office on MAIL FRAUD.
SECOND
File with your LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT, and if you are up to it, MAIL A
COPY OF THE COMPLAINT TO HIS LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT.
THIRD
DON'T LET UP. Keep up with the post office. Let others know. If you
see him post anywhere, post warnings. Hell, someone should just make a
webpage, and collect all data.
One of my friends was scammed, and these were the procedures the police
informed him to take. One report to the post office dosen't do
anything. Each additional report builds a case of mail fraud, and
postal inspectors will do something. The police report will involve
the police, and if the post office catches him on mail fraud, you will
have a way to get what you paid for, or your money back.
Just my $.02
I hate seeing anyone get scammed...I just had some *&%$*# bounce a $350
check on a computer. I drove to her house, and it looked like she
skipped town. I filed with the police department, and she now has a
warrant for her arrest.
Please, do not give up. We forgot before, and he got away with it again.

In my case, its a little bit different because i'm overseas. I have all of
my emails from my dealings with jason/dan. I also have a letter which he
sent to me by snail mail, listing all the items he had for sale and prices,
as well as 2 photos of the items i was going to buy and also 1 of the items
eagan who was also ripped off was going to buy.

I've posted reports with the USPS website as well fraud.org and the FBI
internet fraud division. None of these departments have replied to me at
all. With the help of eagan we have a list of names that dan goes by and
also a list of people who have previously been ripped off. I'm not sure
what i can do being outside of the US but i'd definitely like to see the
$100 i sent to him refunded. I'm happy to help or supply any information
that could be useful in putting this asshole away.

Cheers
Greg

I must apologize as it seems I was scammed too. Jason aka Steve aka Dan
Richards did send my items and in return he begged me for a good reference
on the list and the PC-FX message board. In getting my reference, he
proceeded to commit mail fraud against other list users and ruin my
reputation in the process. In my defense, I had never encountered him
before and he seemed very friendly and provided good service on the Kisado
and the PC-FX I bought. Little did I know he was going to "sell" other
items and not send them.

When I dealt with him, he went by the name Steve on the phone and claimed
Jason was his brother. In my last email conversation with him, he said he
had left for Florida and was no longer in Indiana. I have had no further
contact with this individual (sorry I couldn't help more Greg) and this has
been my only encounter with him.

As I have stated before I only buy Turbo items, I don't sell, so please
don't lump me in with this scam artist. Also he supposed to send me Y's
III, but I doubt I will ever see it as it has been a month since it was to
have been sent.

Listers,
For myself, being as anal about my games as I am, I have celophane
covers for my PCE/PSX games and I put the spine card on the spine as the
covers keeps it in place. It just limits the ease of taking the game
out of the cover to play, but I haven't had much time to play anyway. So I have stored
them away, never to be sold again, but the look great. I just need some
that fit the double CD cases. Can't seem to find those. But that is whay I do.

Call the small claims court for your county of residence. Maybe you can
file suit in small claims court. Just imagine if he gets a legally binding
summons from hundreds of miles away! You do not need a lawyer to take a
case to small claims court!
Good Luck,

Oh man, Dan Richards. If it wasn't for this List, I would have gotten
ripped by him a while back. He posted on (I believe) pcenginefx.com that
he was selling a PC-FX with Blue Breaker for $150. Thank God someone was
awake enough to tell me to avoid the Terre Haute address.

I think you guys are on the right track about this. I got scammed twice a
few years ago on the Bay. One incident, the bay hadnled but the second
one was handled independently in a similar fashion...
One person here needs to collect information (emails, transaction
details, snail mail, all addresses) and share it with the others who have
been ripped. Each of you must in turn file a complaint with your local
PD's and with the Terre Haute PD. Then, take it to small claims court
where I believe he would receive a subpeona from each of your local
courts. Your best bet would be to just call your local court clerk adn
get the low down.

Alright, someone settle this for me please. What is the Tale of Tape
between these two juggernaughts? I've never played Aldynes for the SGx,
but it looks like it could go toe to toe with any ACD/SCD game.

Since I live in Illinois and I frequently drive to Michigan, I can always
stop and pick up some friends and we can make a little visit to our good
friend Dan (Thanks for his address to who ever posted it. The power of the
internet has allowed me to get exact directions to his place) and perhaps
convince him to either ship out the goods or break his legs, which ever the
list votes as appropriate.

Mike

* By reading this you will not hold Michael Sharpe, his subsidiaries, their
subsidiaries and so forth, of any legal ramifications of breaking someone's
legs without express written permission from whom those legs are to be
broken. Michael Sharpe does not condone the use of violence in resolving
any domestic disputes. But if the individual in mention does get his/her
legs broken, it was probably well deserved, but not endorsed. *

Ive posted the address so that people know not to go sending money to anyone
in that general area.

As much as you, id like to see him suffer a bit of pain, the thing is its
not just Dan, but his wife/girlfriend whatever she is, because shes the one
cashing the money orders for him...

And i dont believe right now pain is a suitable action, Eagan has posted he
has a few options and id like to see where those options take us, like eagan
said the last thing we need is jason /Dan trying to sue us for beating him
up.

Still if you do pay him a visit, mention my name "Greg Cook" from New
Zealand. You can tell him i want my games..

Personally, I like playing 1941 more than Aldynes. Either way, though,
I think that titles like Gate of Thunder and especially Winds of
Thunder were more technically accomplished pieces of software, even
running on the inferior hardware. I do like Aldynes and 1941 better
than Sapphire, though, but that's personal prefence...not technical
issues.

I know this is old, but I ahd to throw my $.02 in...

       It's like this, Joan said:
 >
 > So I kept the jewel case, manual, and CD or HuCard. That was all I needed
 > to play the game; the box was extraneous and usually had obtuse artwork on
 > it anyway that didn't enhance my game-playing experience.

The box is very exciting to me. Even as a little kid when I would
drool for hours at Sears staring Colcovision games (well, the boxes
actually) and Atari 2600 games, I knew that to get one of those into my
collection, it was going to take some pennies (and some serious begging).
When I finally got the game, I wanted to keep the box cause it reminded
me of how badly I wanted the game in the first place. The package is
part of the experience. That's what used to be cool about Working
Designs' games and lots of Japanese efforts. Of course, I only have two
Colecovision boxes left cause my Mom agreed with Joan about gameboxes. I
came home from school one day and found that all of my boxes were tossed
and I did the only thing an eight year old could do... I beat up my
sister. ^_^

Listers,
With all this trouble going around, I just wanted to warn everyone who is
unfamiliar with the list or is new about one of the members. The member in
questioin is Jeremiah Jacquet. I have dealt with him on several ocassions,
either through Ebay or one on one trading here, and he has honored his side
of the deals each time. I have never had any problems with him whatsoever
and would highly recommend anyone who has considered trading with or
buying from Jeremiah. I just wanted to warn you guys. Watch out for Greg
Cook, too. He is also a good trader that I want to warn you guys about!! Its

Hey Gang,
I am heading down to beautiful Florida for vacation starting on the
13th and I was curious if there are any Turbo/PC-Engine game carrying
shops in the Daytona/New Smyrna Beach area? Maybe somewhere that also
carries Saturn stuff too.

I am also most likely gonna drive to Miami for at least one day also, so
any suggestions for that area would be great also.

Thanks!
