	You should be able to use any 9v adaptor, providing the amperage
rating is *more* than 1450mA.  If the plug is of the wrong polarity, or
the wrong style of connector, it's pretty easy to change.

	Actually, you should be fine for the most part with the lower 
rating - most small appliances are built with a fairly wide safety margin.  
However, you may run into problems if you use too low a rating - go low 
enough, and it probably won't run at all.  Seeing how PCEs are expensive 
machines and not easy to replace, you may as well play it safe!

	Last I checked, Jameco (www.jameco.com) had a great selection of 
power supplies.  Lots of other online electronics dealers should have 
them, and if you have any good local electronics shops (not Radio Shack),
they might have something as well.  Most places should be able to sell 
you a 1.5A or 2A power supply pretty easily.

	I believe the power supply for Sony's PSone would work, but you'd
have to change the plug.  PSone power supplies (or clones) should be
easy enough to get at video game shops.

	If you're really stuck, you could e-mail me - we've got plenty
of great places to buy power supplies, and I could get one for you
very easily.

I'm using my TurboGrafx-16 CD AC Adapter with my PC Engine CD-ROM2 system.
The ratings don't exactly match, but it runs fine with no heat problems.
It's probably not the best thing to do, but it works...

Hey listers...

I know this topic pops up on the list every now and then... Normaly when I 
see a "I am going to Japan" post... I get mad because I want to go! 
:)  Well... now it's my turn.

Anyway, yes. I am going to Japan for a few weeks. Not for the sole purpose 
to buy video games (now that would be silly! well, maybe not). I am going 
to visit family and friends. Still, might as well look for games while I am 
there right? However, the question arrives: Where are some good places to 
look for those PC Engine treasure chests at the end of the rainbows in 
Japan? I know of the famous Akihabura area in Tokyo, but I am going no 
where near that area. I will be visiting the fallowing Prefectures: 
Yamaguchi (this is where I will be spending most of my time), Fukuoka, 
Gifu, and Kyoto. I might get some time Osaka but if I do, it will be very 
limited, and I will be carrying all my bags and going home! :(

So if anyone lives in Japan or has been there not long ago, to share your 
thoughts.  Last time I was in Japan was in 1999 (first time too) I found a 
small used book store in a mid sized town in Yamaguchi. They had a big pile 
of PCE stuff... but that is the only place I discovered. Who says they will 
have anything this time I visit, or if the shop is still there.

On another note, besides finding PCE goodies (for myself and friends). What 
would be something good to keep an Eye out for?  You know, those items that 
Japanese people don't care about anymore that you can resell on ebay?  I 
have been out of the reselling used games thing for a long time.

Please, don't forget about the MSX versions of Dragon Slayer games. :)
There were 6 Dragon Slayer games on that computer system:

- Drasle Family (Dragon Slayer 4)
- Sorcerian (Dragon Slayer 5)

strangely enough if i'm not mistaken the TG-16 and
CD combo has an interesting querq to it.... (bout
to get real technical) The all use the old 3-pin
regulator style supply so if i'm not mistaken the
systems use +5 only, yes?  If that is true and you
have an old computer power supply laying around
you should be able to direct connect the +5 from
the sup. right into the power jack on the back.
=)  The way the regulators work, usually you have
to be at least 3V above +5 for the regulator to
regulate.  ususally anything above that up to
15/18/24V (depending on type) will also work.
however go below that and the regulator quits
regulating i.e. put 7V in get little less the 7V
out not regulated +5.  same if you put +5 in you'd
get just a couple a 1/10ths of a volt less out.
and most logic (i beleive everyone was using CMOS
by then not TTL) has a tolerence or like 4.7-5.5 V
DC the important thing isn't really what voltage
inside that range you pick, it's that the voltage
STAY CONSTANT hence the need for regulators.

BTW, when would you visit Japan?

Fukuoka is very good place for shopping :-) .
I'd stayed there for 7 years, till last year.

Now "Mandarake ( A well known Otaku shop ) "opens a shop 
in Noeth Tenjin area, Fukuoka city . It perchise 
not only Manga, anime etc but also NEO Classic videogames, 
from Atari to Megadrive and PCengine.
In "Mandarake", many PCengine, Famicom and Megadrive items 
are in stock but the price is as same as in Akihabara 
(not low) or higher than Akihabara. 

If you can go out suburb of Fukuoka city by car, you 
can visit another well known Otaku shops ; "Manga souko".
"Manga souko" has some shops in North Kyushu area and 
have a thousands stocks of NEO classic games , most of 
them are Famicom and Superfamicom but hundlets of PCengine 
items are .
However, some of the prices are astonishingly high, 
too over priced.

So the name of this Shop would be "Mandarake?" I will be in a hotel right 
next to the Airport. How far would this be from there? You will have to 
forgive me, I am not sure what "Noeth Tenjin area" is, I do have a really 
good Japanese Atlas so it should not be too hard to find places... I also 
could ask around, (my wife is Japanese).  Not really going to have access 
to a car tell I get to Yamaguchi, (and only in Yamaguchi) But, really... I 
am going to need to be able to reach locations from train, or bus. :)

I think I know of "Nihonbashi Denden town" there is a store there called 
"super potato" that carries PCE stuff...  Looks like your message got cut 
off there, what else were you going to say?

Yes, Mandarake is the name of the place.  It's a tall building about 4 or
5 stories.  The PCE games (and others) are in a glass cabinet on the first
floor right in front of the escalator that comes down from the 2nd
floor... at least that where they were when I was there.

I believe Takumi-san meant "North Tenjin area".  Tenjin is the name of
that downtown area.  I believe it's only 3-4 stops from the airport by
subway.  Not too far really.  There's like a bunch of subway exits
connected by this underground shopping mall, so if you exit out the north
end of this shopping area, you should be facing toward Mandarake once you
get out to the street.  It's about 3 blocks away on the corner.
Unfortunately there are tall buildings everywhere and I don't remember any
landmarks other than a small McDonalds that's kinda across the street from
Mandarake.

If you like playing arcade games, there's also a Taito Station and Sega
Gigo in the area too. :)

Tenjin's a neat place.  I spent a few days wondering around there... big
shopping area.
