hi list,

any help would be appreciated with the following questions.

  1. i've asked before how turbo hacking can be accomplished with a
developers' kit and many have answered with 'reverse engineering'. i'd
like to know more about the process but in english, if possible.

  2. i am stuck yet again in Far East of Eden III...has anyone gone to
Stone Henge yet in the game? i am at the temple in the sky and cannot get
out of there. anyone remember what to do here?

  3. has anyone played Jim Power? it looks like such a wierd game and i
was wondering what it was about and if it was any good.

  4. anyone have any opinions on the Xak games? i've been thinking about
getting them but i am not sure if they are worth it.

  5. i'd like some opinions on the power league baseball games. which are
      the best ones?

  6. finally, were there any 'gameshark type' devices made for the pc engine?
it is a little surprising that i have never seen one. i wonder how
difficult it would be to construct such a device pre-programmed with
      lots of codes.

      thanks,
        george

It depends on what you mean by "turbo hacking" and "developers' kit".

For development of new games and demos, several of us have already done the
reverse engineering that you would need, and have created a developers' kit
called "HuC" (now incorporating the MagicKit assembler). It can be found
along with various creations (games/demos and sample code) at
http://www.zeograd.com . You can discuss the use of this tool (and demo
creation) on EfNet in the #utopiasoft channel.

For ROM hacking as in graphical changes and translations, this is a
specialized skill which is a little more difficult to describe. However,
some nice documents exist on sites like http://www.romhacking.org and
http://rpgd.emulationworld.com to start you off. Again, #utopiasoft is a
pretty good place to discuss this, with respect to the TurboGrafx/PC Engine.

Not to my knowledge. The first generation of these devices (Galoob's "Game
Genie") narrowly missed the TurboGrafx as its target market while battling
Nintendo and Sega over the right to sell the product. The TurboGrafx was
#3 by this time (behind Genesis and NES, before Super NES), and was
virtually dead by the time the court case was resolved. So they never
created/released one.

Hellow, george.

A friend of mine played it.
The CD-DA music is very nice.
All musics are arrenged by Chris Mosdell (Sorry,I forget his spell).

The Game is not very good but fair, not easy to beat.
I recommend the PCE-SCD game for "OST: Jim Power arrenged music CD".

Regards.
