mmm, I have to agree with what Paul England said about the prices. If one
didn't need to pay for rent/food/utilities or have a decent paid job then
maybe it's possible to charge just the odd 5% or so favour but with the
economy being so shit, I'm having now to get bulk games to sell to make things
meet. As most pc engine games are going down in price, it's only the few games
like DracX that one can use to put a downpayment on the grocery bill.
Funnily enough, here in Hong Kong, PC Engine prices have been like the same
for software but hardware has plummeted recently. I saw a Super Grafx bare
with all cables/PSU for like US$50 o_O (still, it's probably 300% more than
what one can find in Japanese junk shops)

Thanks for your help guys, you've more or less convinced me to by an
import system. :-)
Sorry to be a bother, but I've got a few more questions.
Could someone tell me how much I should expect to pay (and if possible
where to buy one)? I saw a Duo-RX going for $300 on eBay with Buy it
Now. There was also a country-switch/RCA modded TG-16 going for $79.99.
Are prices like that what I should expect? What do Core Grafx systems
usually go for?
I can't afford one immediately so I'll have to keep an eye on the
auctions.
How does the voltage work, will it need an adaptor?
Thanks,
Mark

Well, I don't go to the junk shops, but this is one system that doesn't
rear it's ugly head as much as the others. I'm sure it pops up on
Yahoo auctions, but if I want a system with only 4 games for it, I'll
get a Gamecube! Oh, wait... I've already got one. :)

I'm suprised old games still fetch that much in Japan, considering
their unemployment rate has increased to 5% nationally. You would think
that prices would come down on un-necessary, non-living items.
Hasn't the dollar to yen value increased because of their piss-poor
economy? Doesn't the good ole U.S. dollar go farther? Just like in
other Asian countries and Mexico?

I have one, but it sure aint forsale :) infact its actually against the sony
agreement to sell the item, as technically its not our property to sell.
ive seen them on ebay now and then, expect to pay 300 - 500 US for one, or
do what i did before i had one and make your own cable and use the gnu
software that some of the underground sites have developed

yes, the dollar goes much further now, but those that live in Japan
don't make dollars, except through locating games... at laest in my
case. I leave those dollars in the US, as it sucks when converting yen
to dollar when I go home, or need to pay bills, buy stuff off of
amazon, etc.
Japan is an economic enigma... all rules of sense and whatnot do not
apply... I've tried using reasoning... it just doesn't work. It is
deflating a bit though. Apples are down to 95 cents. :)
