Very nice indeed... I know full well the time and effort to make a resource
like that :) Keep up the great work!

Ok, before anyone tries to be smart, I'm talking differences in GAMES
ONLY. Anyway, what differences were there between US and UK games? Are
they compatible? If not, are UK games compatible with a Japanese
system? Any packaging differences? You get the idea...
Many thanks,

Andy

Andrew... are we talking about the PC Engine/TurboGrafx ?

There was no official UK release for either of these machines.
The small UK representation that existed, took Japanese PC Engine systems
and repackaged them for the UK market - some very small amount of units
were modified for PAL video output, but the majority were modified for SCART.

But the games for these systems in the UK were all Japanese games.
Mostly, they were carefully chosen to avoid large amounts of Japanese text.

As for playing differences between US and Japan - most games were
translations only, with no other modifications (except possibly the
name). Some games had more major surgery, and mostly for strange or
unknown reasons:
Magical Chase - different 1st level graphics
Splatterhouse - red versus white hockey mask
JJ & Jeff/Kato & Ken: fart turns to spray paint; bathroom stuff becomes
less obvious
Mesopotamia/Somer Assault: removed 'god' references for origin of the "main
player thing"

Yea...whoops, should've been more clear. Sorry. :)

I see...so if I were to pick up a game in a bargain bin in London it
would be the same exact thing as the Japanese version, artwork and all?
Sorry if I'm being dense, its just that I have some friends that will
be in England for a while and I'm debating whether or not to pester
them to find stuff I can't find over here (DE 2 and Beyond Shadowgate,
for example). But, since I'm super-anal about my collection I only want
US releases whenever possible.
Thanks for the detailed reply!!

Andy
