This will be a review of HES.WARE Graphic Basic in 3 parts.

Part 1. Graphic and Sprite Commands.

Over all GR.Basic is a time saving high level program that has saved me lots of time in generating special grapics for my video presentations. But I have run into a few drawbacks.

The first problem was when i whanted to have sprite movement and windowing text to happen simotaniosly. The sprite would stop in the animation mode then beggin after scroll was completed.

Another Problem exists when you try to fill in a box near a previosly filled box. What occurs is that part of the other fill will turn the color of present fill.

Beware of the documintation. In most place they donot discribe what the comand does. Only that they used it in an example program they wrote (which is provided on the disc). And from my review on HES.WARE, it is very hard to get answeers from them on how there software works.

The best part of the program is the sprite generations. In the sprite edit mode you can generate up to 32 sprite and then call them in as a shape to be used in your program. and if you whant to see more than 8 sprites on the screen then you may use there copy sprite to hires. This will copy the sprite to the hires graphic screen so that you are now free to to and another shape.

Sprite animation is geat also. This allows you to have actual animation on the screen and go off and do something else since all sprite movement is automatic.

Well the next part will be on input/output of GR.Basic.
