I just had my first "hands-on" look at a Macintosh digital board. What was
interesting is that the 2 ROM chips are socketed (this is a 512k board). Were
the earlier boarded completely soldered or were the ROMs socketed? There were
also areas labeled "512 only" and "128 only" (resistors in these areas).

One has to wonder if there will be another os (upward compatable?) as we travel
down the road to denser ROMs.
