What a weird coincidence that this topic has come up again. I actually
found some hidden images in Valis III five days ago, but I had to leave on
holiday.

Yep, some really interesting stuff is hidden in Valis III, and I've made a
page about it: http://www.zyx.com/chrisc/texts/valis3.html

I wonder if Telenet is still around at that address? ;-)

Hi,
I vaguely remember a game magazine
(Gamepro or EGM I believe) mentioning
something about this when Valis III came
out years ago. They didnt specifically
say anything about the roulette game, but
they hinted toward a hidden game of
some kind and had a pic showing a wizard
or magician saying something about you
finding the hidden secret.
Anyone remember anything like this?

Im assuming the stuff you found was on
the pc-e version of the game. I would think
the US version would be different if you
can actually access roulette from within
valis 3.
I'll check it out. What program did you use
to browse the binaries?

Thanks
jj

I just used TileLayer on the PC, in SNES mode to view the PC-E graphics...

Another thing that I did while on holiday was extract all the assembler
listings and assembler files that were hidden in the data track of Golden
Axe... I found 11 separate text files; has anybody found more? The
listings are in ASCII but have some Japanese text (in Shift-JIS) in
comments and labels and such...

The asm code makes some references to initializing the graphics chip by
referring to its codename, 7-Up. That's really interesting. I found a
website recently which confirms this... #http://www6.airnet.ne.jp/wataru/#

One of the sections on that webpage contains an interview with a top Hudson
designer (or something) and he explained the codenames for the chips. The
CPU was called "Dr. Pepper", the VDC "7-Up" and the "CPE" something
unintelligible in Japanese. Neat stuff.

If anybody knows any neat cheats for Golden Axe to make the game not suck,
please let me know. :-)

Hey listers,

Just want to say hello to all the diehard pc engine fans out there. Finally,
I can send an e-mail to you all with my mac. Here is a stoopid list of some
amazing stuff i recently acquired:

gradius 2 scd
gameboy advance with advance wars (get this game if you like military madness)
leynos 2 Jsaturn
and a converter to play gameboy advance on TV

please support the gameboy advance, it is taking the baton from the pc engine
and kicking ass in the fight to bring 2-d back into the races.

happy gnu year,

-C
