regarding the request for music software:

The forth system I have, Super-Forth 64   (*trumpet fanfare*)
allows you to enter note/length strings for each voice,
change sid parameters,
use subroutines like  'chorus',
change tempo or key without changing the original tune,
etc.

As you have no doubt been told before, Forth is god's gift to hackers.
Well, I like it.  You can do pretty much anything, and the format is
adaptable.  High learning curve, tho.
