This is a request for information related to a problem that has occurred
recently on my TI 99/4A. It appears to happen only when a particular
 educational cartridge is operating.

While going through this game which provides drill in multiplication, the
cursor control key for vertical motion ceases to work. I can move the little
character left and right, but not up. The CAPS lock key is not down. In
fact, the first half of the first tier of keys (QWERT) appears to not
 function.

Now comes the fun part. If I exit from this particular game (FCN =), and
enter console BASIC, without removing the cartridge, the QWERT keys still fail
to function. I am unable to get these keys to print, but any other keys
 display as usual.

If the cartridge is removed, then the console works as expected. I have not
noticed this behavior from any other cartridge.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior? How could the presence of a
cartridge prevent part of the console keys from being read? Any suggestions
 for fixes?

Either mail (ihnp4!iham1!gjphw) or articles to this newsgroup will be read.
