ANTIC claims that they are the #1 Atari Computer Magazine. I don't know
by what standard, but I do know that they are improving every issue, and
they are really trying to serve the Atari community. They have been
changing the magazine for the better and now all the program listings are
in the middle of the magazine by themselves so they can be removed without
disturbing any articles. ANTIC has an active notefile on the PLATO system.
They are investigating ways to start a special bulletin board for users
groups that would organize regular nationwide users group teleconferences,
provide a super-accurate product rating system based on feedback from all
over the nation and generally provide a clearinghouse for national users
groups. They are starting a direct mail catalog of products (software and
hardware) because it is so hard for small companies to get nationwide
distribution. All ANTIC subscribers will automatically receive this
catalog and anyone else can write and ask to be put on the list. They
are hoping to carry all the dropped APX software and the software of any
third party vendors that want them to. Their Public Domain Software
library is expanding. They have added 8 new disks this month including
a double sided disk containing Antic FORTH, a Business disk, a Computer
tutorial and a Telecommunications disk including a new improved version
of AMODEM. Disks are still $10 each plus shipping. All in all, a very
good issue.
