In response to some questions on the net lately about finding

a good RS 232 interface... I came across this ad yesterday..

On page 93 of the JULY issue of RUN magazine is :

From the photo, this device appears to have a small DC to DC

converter by MOSTEK on the card to generate the +/- 12V sources.

This product appears to have been built the right way.

Commodore itself markets an RS-232 interface that installs in the user port;
costs on the order of $40, and I have happily used it for 6 months or so
at 1200bd both on a modem and via a null modem connector to a local machine.
The device does NOT come with a terminal emulation program, but there are a
few of those in the public domain.  Note that the Basic interpreter can't
keep up at 1200 -- you need a machine language emulator for that.
