save with replace
net.micro.cbm

I have a 1541 drive purchased in August of 83. In perhaps 200 uses of
of save with replace (usually I use the wedge with the command:
<@0:filename ), I've clobbered existing files about 3 times.
The general symptom is that initially Program-A is fine; later I do a
save with replace of Program-B; then attempts to load either Program-A
or Program-B produce Program-B. Both directory entries point to the
beginning of Program-B. My guess is that that when Program-A was saved
most recently, the BAM was not updated. Then Program-B is saved into
the same sectors (or at least the beginning of Program-A is
overwritten). I believe in all cases it has been programs overwriting
programs, but I've always had 1 or 2 relative files on the disk in
addition to a number of programs.
I've heard that there was some discussion of this problem in the March
issue of Compute's Gazette, but I haven't seen it.

Yeah; Compute Gazette's response to the save-replace ("@:") problem was
essentially "Don't use it - it's got problems". Not terribly illuminating.
