I do not agree with software piracy and do not engage in such practices myself.
I do take exception to likening it to stealing a Mercedes Benz car because
you would like one.  In that case, you would be taking someone elses
property and they would be out one car.  If I could borrow someone's
Mercedes and make a copy of it and return the original, I might be
tempted.  This equates more to software piracy.  Yes, the writer and
the company producing the software suffers some loss and yes, it is
illegal.  I agree with that but I do not think it equates to stealing
physical property.
 
Obviously, these are my opinions, etc...
