This is in response to a note posted the other day by Bob Tomlinson,
concerning the Vectrex Mine Storm game. Yes, it is possible to get
past level 32; however, it does take a little (alot) of luck. The
method I use is the following:
When you first appear on level 32, watch for the mine which vanishes;
it is the first of the invisible mines. Kill this one immediately.
Next, fire 3 or 4 shots, then hyperspace. Continue doing this until
you have successfully completed the level.
As I said, it takes alot of luck. Sometimes I will make it through on
my first attempt, while on other times, I will lose 8 or 10 ships. It
is definitely not easy!!!
As to the question concerning the algorithm for resetting the game, there
is no real algorithm!! I called GCE in California to ask them about that
one, and they claimed it was not a bug (BS). The engineer did tell me,
though, that if you don't press the fire button after clearing a level,
it won't reset on you; this does seem to work.
