When the new came out i thought the overarching religious, almost hoaky,
themes would be toned down or dispensed with but it ended up the new had
even more overt and more ludicrous religio elements!
At least in the original, the 'Ships of Light' and Iblis were theorized
to be some more advanced form of mankind and no really omnipotent deity
sticking its hand in some Grand Destiny was evident as with the new with
harlot-angels and lazarus-Starbucks and a cruel God necessitating wiping
out all but 50,000 humans and flinging them from one faith shattering
epiphany to the next in some bitter crucible to prove Faith.
And dont even get into the idea of robots worshipping a human
god-concept.

Galactica was "post 9-11 cinema". That's why it was so popular and lasted
several seasons. It tapped into those feelings with a monotheistic enemy
wanted what amounted to jihad.

Hoaky from the word go. It was nice to see Macnee as Iblis, tho.
