No, it couldn't. The Prequels did that.
Seriously, whatever Disney does to Star Wars, GL has already ruined
before them. I can not see how Disney could make this worse in any
way.

Very, very easily. As a (hopefully) silly example, they could decide there
aren't enough "strong" female characters, and so change Darth Vader into
being Luke's mother, or any of a bazillion other idiotic, ill-fitting
changes ... and yes, Hollyweird DOES do such idiotic things. :-\

Nah, I would prefer Annie Skywalker to the prequels any day of the
week :)
