Some devices (probably the US doubler) have non-standard high-speed SIO
commands. However, that requires a custom SIO, the one in the Os is not
able to communicate with a higher speed. The trouble is that most games
require all of the RAM, and will not be able to jump into another custom
location to load the data. For the XL models, copying the Os ROM into
RAM and patching there might be a solution, though is not easily
accomplished.

You can certainly convert to ED if you have a version that is not copy
protected. For DD, the sector size is different, and hence the bootstrap
of the games have to be completely modified. Why do you want to have
them in DD? This doesn't buy you much.
