[note: minor B5 episode and book spoilers below]

Because I’m currently thinking about starting an epic, multi-chaptered fic (thank you for any answers!):

  • Do we know who Dius Vintari’s mother is?
  • Do we know why Dius isn’t first in line for the Centauri throne?
  • Do we know why his last name is Vintari rather than, say, also Cartagia?
  • And am I missing any research material for his life if I just 1) re-watch the Lost Tales, 2) finish reading Peter David’s Legions of Fire book series for David, and 3) maybe re-watch the Cartagia episodes? Anything else you think might be especially relevant to re-watch or read for a Dius-centric fic?

Popular Fan opinion is that Lyndisty from “Sic Transit Vir” is Dius’ mother (because it’s just so perfect) but there’s no canon answer.

We know, and Londo and Vir know, that they will both be Emperor, that Vir will be Emperor when Londo is dead. I haven’t read the entire Legions of Fire trilogy but it’s possible that Londo has named Vir as his direct successor. I imagine the Drakh might see Vir as a week naive man who can be controlled and wouldn’t question it. But as I said I don’t know if there’s a canon answer, you might want to check the Guide.

After Cartagia’s house fell his family would have been made part of an other house, we know this is a practice from Season 2’s Knives when the Jaddo family becomes part of House Mollari. They likely could of changed their name to remove themselves from his rule, considering that he was frivolous, decadent, and despite the official line about his death, the court was terrified of him and that’s not going to stay hidden for long.

Other than that I’m not sure? Like I said I’m not through Legions of Fire, but maybe someone else could help out?
