Not everybody in the world is a dweeb who follows anything with a spaceship
and knows every nerd phrase in existence.

No they aren't. But that doesn't seem to stop a lot of people from still
willfully trying to be a "dweeb", does it ?

Still, it is interesting how Star Trek has pervaded the culture.

I've seen "warp speed" used as a metaphor for "very fast".

Or "Beam me up, Scotty" to mean "This situation is hopeless".

In political debates, I've seen certain groups compared to the Borg--and
everybody in the audience knows what that's supposed to mean.

And notice some of the names of the streets in this new subdivision in
Turlock, California:

I want to live on Warp Dr.!

I once lived in a community reached by Seagate Dr., but it was near
the ocean so it may have been a coincidence.
