The trailer is out. Lots of Q. Lots of shaky camera and time travel
hijinks. It's definitely not going to be TNG like any more than S01 was,
despite forming and establishing a 'crew'. Still, TNG S01 was shaky too,
so I have hope for Picard S02. If only kurtzman would get some
debilitating illness or something that would prevent him from overseeing
the writing we could have trek again, probably.

I did see the trailer...if 'Q' (John de Lancie) is an immortal being, why
does he choose to appear in aged form?
While I did not watch the first season I did see via Youtube that the Data
character was definitively retired....unless I missed something. I guess
Brent Spiner was also tired of playing the character?
Anyway, nice to see some traffic on the newsgroup.

I haven't seen either season .... but didn't John pass away a while back??
Hmm!! Wikipedia doesn't list a death date, so I guess I mis-remembered!!

What they did with Data in S01 was completely unecessary. And I'm hoping
it's just going to get retconned somehow. His appearance in the trailer
for S02 would suggest that. Or maybe it's just flashbacks.

I think he's still hanging in there but of course would love to be corrected
if wrong.
There are precious few left from the original series. I think Nichelle
Nichols may be suffering from dementia, but she has some great youtube
stories from the time she quit and Dr. King convinced her not to.
She was in the right place for a right time and will always get credit for
prime-time TV's first inter-racial kiss. (Was there one prior w/o credit?)
Walter Koenig's still with us (how to properly prounounce his name?), George
Takei and Shatner. I do miss DeForest Kelly, Leonard Nimoy and...oh heck, I'm
blanking!..."Mr. Scott". I hate my brain sometimes.
