I'm not going to get into the economic questions. That's a huge issue, but I
do want to point out something that seem to me missing.

1. Where is Lore's body? If they needed a fully working android, they could
have studied him to learn how to create a new body for Data's consciousness.

2. What happened to Juliana Tainer? (aka Data's Mother). Surely her secret
would have been known by Starfleet via official ship logs. Even if they
decided not to tell her, when/if she "died" she could have been studied.

3. Why beam attackers into Dahj's apartment when they could have just beamed
her into a shielded cell? Even with her android Kung Fu, speed, and
strength, she couldn't break through shields. They could have even just
beamed out her head. Sure, that's nasty but it would have given them access
to her brain without needed to worry if she would fight them.

This group is probably dead but the #1 way to bring back usenet is to use
it.

Not having seen Star Trek:Picard (I'm in Australia and don't have Pay
T.V.!), I cannot answer your specific questions, but I do agree with
your last statement.

If I were to have a question about (unseen) Star Trek:Picard, it would
be along the lines of ..... As I understand it, this series is based
*AFTER* Picard has left Starfleet, so why is it called *Star Trek* at all??

Just to get the Fan Base viewing, I guess!

Picard may have left Starfleet, but Starfleet is still very much involved. Sorry for the small spoiler.

As I typed "Not having seen Star Trek:Picard", so O.K., then!

Patrick Stewart said before the show launched that the "new starfleet" is
inspired by Brexit, but it's not really an apt comparison unless you think
aliens are secretly invading the UK.

FYI, I x-posted this thread on rec.arts.sf.startrek.current.

Thanks for leading me to that board. It had a lot more Star Trek action going on.

Uhm... Because the name of the franchise is 'Star Trek', and not
'Starfleet'. :-)
