I wasn't sure who to contact about this, but I was randomly downloading some woz-a-day .woz images to try out on Virtual ][ and noticed that a number of them were not working. Most were fine, but here are the ones that did not work for me. Maybe the uploader will spot this and re-upload:
- Wizplus
- Wizardy I
- Wizardry II
- Wizardry III
- Wizardry IV
Wizardry V was fine and I'm using the latest version of Virtual ][ (9.3.1).

No luck on setting write protect. Choplifter is also not booting correctly.. It's hard to tell if the .woz images are the problem or the emulator. I have an AppleSauce on order and an original copy of Wizardy so I will try my own .woz imaging to see if I get a different result.

NB. Choplifter doesn't work on an Enhanced //e.
Woz-a-day (https://archive.org/details/wozaday_Choplifter) says:
"It requires a 48K Apple II or ][+. Due to compatibility issues created by the copy protection, it will not run on later models."
But on AppleWin, it also works with an un-enhanced (NMOS 6502) //e.

Ah, yes. I recall now that the Choplifter copy protection was something tied to the ROMs in the Apple. I checked Choplifter again with Virtual ][ in a ][+ configuration and it works. The Wizardry .woz images still won't boot and I've tried multiple emulator build-outs with them.
I will make my own Wizardry .woz file when I get my Apple Sauce next week to see if that makes a difference.

I got the AppleSauce setup and that is one brilliant piece of kit! I flux-imaged a number of original disks successfully, including my 3rd edition copy of Wizardry. Virtual ][ still doesn't like the Wizardry .woz image for some reason while other emulators like AppleWin run it just fine. Gerard said he would open a ticket.

This issue in Virtual ][ is related to Pascal-formatted disks. When I came to my Apple Pascal OS disks during my .woz archiving sessions, I encountered the same issue (AppleWin and MicroM8 sill work fine with .woz images of Pascal formats. Since Wizardry was written in Pascal, it has the same problem.
