My Mac G3 has SCSI hard drive, using a 50 pin connection.

Which has gone U/S.

I have a SCSI hard drive using a DB-25 connector, can I use this drive to
boot up and run the Mac?

This 2nd drive is from a Mac G3.

Hi
Just an update on my post I should have included this a picture of the hard
drive.

Barry,

I don’t believe that’s a SCSI drive in the photo. To my knowledge, only ATA (“parallel ATA”) drives had Master/Slave/Cable Select options.

This is true. PATA drives have a 40-pin connector, which could be confused with a 50-pin SCSI one at first glance. The model number of this one suggests it is a 4.3GB model, pretty small compared to what you should easily be able to find now.

Both the beige and blue-and-white G3s would have come with a PATA drive originally, and you should look for a similar replacement. Probably they will be easier to find than 50-pin SCSI drives.

Like Eddy & Johnathan said, that drive is IDE/ATA. Definitely easy to find
a cheap replacement.

For the second part of your question, if you do have another drive that is
SCSI with an OS on it and have the right adapters, you can plug in and it
you can probably boot from it. Is this a beige G3 or B&W?
