MAME 0.209 was released earlier today for all supported systems, and there's some big Apple II news: our Apple Rev. C SCSI Card emulation is now mature enough to support both emulated harddisks and emulated CD-ROM drives.

GS/OS can read any ISO-9660, HFS, or ProDOS format CD-ROM (which is most of them) as long as you have an image in .ISO format. ProDOS 8 can read ProDOS CD-ROM partitions, such as the one on the Golden Orchard 1.2 CD, and both the enhanced //e and the IIgs can boot from a CD-ROM.

Golden Orchard 1.2 boots into GS/OS 6.0.1; there are probably CDs out there that boot into ProDOS 8 and would work on the //e but I don't know about them.

You can see a few GS/OS screenshots here: http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/?p=1360

In less exciting news, we now support the Alltech Focus Drive and Zip Technologies "Zip Drive" IDE twins (the two cards have nearly identical hardware, firmware and software), and you can use the Focus Drive with the Apple /// if you have David Schmidt's latest SOS driver.

Yes, great work.
I did not find an answer to a question I have: does it play audio-cds?

What software do you use to play audio CDs? It won't work right now as the drive's audio outputs aren't connected, but I can make it work if I can test it.

If you recognize the pre scsi-1 apple cd-sc, then the cd remote nda is the app to use.

if you recognize scsi1/2, then my test app or media controller device and scsi-2 driver will play audio-cds, get v2 at http://www.brutaldeluxe.fr/products/apple2gs/scsi2/ - First, install the media controller things from the system 6.0.1 install disks.
