IIc System Clock driver/installer disassembly? [message #383253] Sat, 20 April 2019 14:20

Has anyone done a disassembly of the IIc System Clock's CLOCK.SYSTEM utility, before I embark on such a task? The manual claims it does the "detect and run the next .SYSTEM file" dance but if I drop it into my standard HD image it ends up in a restart loop.

Context: I use the same HD image across virtual and physical machines, so the root directory holds a sequence of .SYSTEM files representing clock drivers for various hardware configs. Between an updated NS.CLOCK.SYSTEM and a custom CRICKET.SYSTEM, the appropriate driver ends up installed before the final .SYSTEM executes.

Aside: the installer software on the disk image queries for system type: IIc or Laser 128. Does anyone know how this is used? (Presumably it modifies the driver/installer file, hopefully just setting a flag, which would be revealed by the disassembly...)
