“Fairy Gone” is steam punk fantasy about a world where insect-like fairies can merge with certain humans and create semi-autonomous large and violent magical creatures for the human host. A long human war of conquest was fought resulting in the creation of an empire, and as collateral damage, caused the destruction of a village of people who could merge with the fairies. Only a couple of girls escaped from the destruction of that village and now years later they run into each other at an auction of fairy-related items.

The first episode of this series suffered from some badly structured writing and a lot of half-hearted animation. The battles between the opposing fairies were generic mecha-style fights. The dialog made the main characters appear to be idiots. All-in-all there was no sense of style or originality. I’ll stick around for another episode but I can’t imagine staying much longer unless things improve in a very significant way. My initial rating is C-.
