The Winter 2019 anime season is over and I’m writing a wrap-up like usual. But this is a very short wrap-up because I didn’t watch many anime this past season.
New Winter 2019 anime series:
“Mob Pyscho 100 Season 2” – episodes watched: 13, completed. Final Rating: A. This wonderfully comic story of a teen with psi powers finished up very nicely in its second season. Great animation, voice acting and writing all came together to provide non-stop top notch entertainment. Not all of the manga has been animated, but the anime has covered all of the key aspects and nothing more is needed now.
“Dororo” – episodes watched: 12, continuing. Current Rating: A. This reboot of a late ‘60s Osamu Tezuka manga and anime has been very solidly entertaining throughout its first half. Drama, action and characterization are all being handled well in this historical fantasy tragedy.
“Ueno-san wa Bukiyou” – episodes watched: 12, completed. Final Rating: B. This goofy gag comedy about a junior high school inventor-girl and her unrequited crush on one of the members of her science club was consistently funny, often vulgar and generally a lot of fun. (The butt plug episode was a standout example of the humor…)
Continuing series:
“Meitantei Conan” – episodes watched: 935, continuing. Current Rating: A. I still find it fun.
“One Piece” – episodes watched: 878, continuing. Current Rating: A. Ditto.
“Gegege no Kitaro (2018) – episodes watched: 49. Current rating: B. Ditto.
