The Diagnostics give "register increment failure"

In copy II+ the card still appears, as a non-prodos or dos volume, it appears to verify and format, although it remains unformatted.

It's also developing some wild amount of heat out of PAL RF1-Q, which it has two of so its the second one towards the top of the card.

Sound like a dead PAL? Can I get a replacement somewhere?

Well I have been lucky enough a donor card came my way. After lots of chip swapping and hair pulling it looks like a marginal eprom and a dead pal.

Interestingly or not, the failed pal also changes across various versions on the RamFactor card. In mine I have 2 x RF1-Q, in others one of these is an RF1-M or RF1-W, unclear how much difference there is between any of these, and the differing eproms appear to drive either chipset.

Got a copy made of the eprom, still looking for some way to make a copy of a PAL though.

I'm pretty sure Henry still sells these, although I don't know whether it's
at a price point that you would find attractive. I'd compare that against
the cost of a new A2Heaven board, first.

In the 'Options' drop-down, select 'RAMFactor RF6 Revision C'.

Somewhere I have a note from an old AE guy about what was fixed. I know I
used quite a few RAMFactors when I ran IIe's and bought a couple upgrade
kits from AE, which also included a ROM, IIRC.

Here's what I could find from 25 years ago:

RAMFactor Upgrade Kit:

(1) new ROM [V1.4] and (1) new PAL

The chipset from AE includes a new 28 pin ROM (white label) and a
replacement for the 20 pin DIP chip labeled:

PALC16L8-35PC
PALC16L8A-2PC
USA8705 9696

Neither of the cards in my posession have anything labeled anything like that. The closest being PAL16R4ACN.

Henry told me to use it as a paperweight :/ So I'm living in hope someone else either has another dead card somewhere, or some way to burn/program a pal with
a

RF1-Q
RF1-M
RF1-W

image.

Are the fuse maps available anywhere? I have a programmer that can handle
those parts, but if AE blew the security links it won't be possible to read
out the current state.

I haven't found anything helpful

Ahh, I have one possibility closer to home, I'll try that first. Might be better than transcontinental postage :)
