Flower of Life (Japanese: フラワー·オブ·ライフ Hepburn: Furawa obu Raifu) is
a slice of life comedy manga series by Fumi Yoshinaga revolving around a
group of friends in a high school. The manga is serialised in
Shinshokan's Wings. It was nominated for the first annual Manga Taishō
award in 2008 and one of the Young Adult Library Services Association's
2008 Great Graphic Novels. The manga is licensed in North America by
Digital Manga Publishing.
Flower of Life was one of the first manga i read
from the shelves of the SFPL Main. It is about a boy
who was treated for and survived Leukemia by radiation
and bone marrow transplant.
He, Harutaro Hanazono, returns to school having
missed a year and grown considerably. He initiates a
friendship with Shota Mikuni, a short and chubby boy
whom all good people seem to find quite cute.
They are both incipient otaku and a third member,
Kai Majima is a full on otaku having surrendered to his
passion, neglecting his studies and working part-time for
money to finance his hobbies,
The home room teacher and one other teacger married are
having a passionate affair.
His sister and father are at home, and we get to meet them.
Both the parents are Chicken Sexers and mother is abroad in
Spain teaching the skill to the workers there.
So this is a fine manga and deserves reading
and I am enjoying reading it again.
