Hi All, first time post. I've been wanting to use the Floppy EMU device to
mount a hard drive (smartport) to my //e. My understanding is the only way
to do this is have a Liron card, since the Disk interface card only allows
the floppy emu to appear as 5.25" floppies.

I saw a post online about a cloned Liron card/project, but cant find a way
to purchase it. Is there any active cloned Liron card out there for sale
yet? Or do I have to find an original on ebay still?

Thanks
John

The same guy who made the Floppy Emu also developed a clone of the Liron card. However, he's having problems with the card, so he never made it available for sale. Check out his web site, https://www.bigmessowires.com/category/yellowstone/

This is the only Liron clone project I've seen.

John,

I've seen reports that an Apple 3.5" 'Superdrive' Drive Controller Card will
work with the Floppy EMU in hard drive mode.

Originals can be pretty pricey, and even the clone is not cheap, but if
price is no object:

I haven't yet seen (but would certainly like to) a report on using the Laser
UDC (controls both 5.25" and 3.5" on an Apple IIe) with the Floppy EMU.

And, I would hope you could still buy these used on eBay for a 'reasonable'
price, although I just noticed a sale from April, 2018 on eBay for one that
closed at $214. Yikes!

I have this Laser UDC card with two laser 3.5" drives attached in my Enhanced Apple IIe. If anyone wants to test their Floppy EMU on my system, let me know.
