The Lower Planes - telnet: tlp.zapto.org:23:2023
ssh: bbs@tlp.zapto.org password:bbs
www: tlp.zapto.org check the login page.

Used to be a few users that were kicking around on CSA2..

Prince Slime - Ian ?
Kingfisher - Willie Yeo
Helix Energy - ?

We'll see if we can't make it great again.

How awesome!

Prince Slime is/was Ian Brumby and Helix Energy is...me.

Ironically, I moved to Melbourne a little over 15 years ago from my
hometown of Newcastle, back when I used to call TLP.

Great seeing your renewed interest in the IIGS. I remember there was
some disappointment when I moved on from the IIGS onto a PowerMac in
early 1995, but I got back into it a couple of years later when IIGS
emulation appeared with Bernie ][ the Rescue. That's when I really
wanted to archive every IIGS specific program ever written...and
haven't really stopped: http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za

Despite TLP not being up, I hung onto the GS for ages. In the end, I had a combination of faulty stuff, no monitor in particular. Unable to effectively hook it up to the network. I still get nostalgic from time to time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed of acquiring another GS. I probably should have done this for the BBS a long time ago, but really didn't have the skills required, and life intervenes sometimes.

Also expect to cover ]['s generally, not just the GS.

After a bit of furious bash scripting, either ssh bbs@tlp.zapto.org with the password bbs or telnet tlp.zapto.org:23 user/passwd bbs/bbs ought to log you into the first available node. So you don't have to try and connect to specific ports.

My apologies. Behind the scenes this beast is a bit convoluted and touchy. I thought it was ready, but users have shown me its not :/ I've been trying to fix existing problems, and improve the way it was working at the same time... not really a great recipe.

That kind of error is usually the emulated dos box not being able to talk to its NFS server, for those that care or understand.

Fingers crossed, it should be flying and stable. I just have to sit back and stop tinkering for bit.

Erm ok, you must be BK, you left a message? You're good to go, I had to change the access levels for new users in general, you slipped through the cracks

Ok, I think we're finally flying stable. Thank you few that have used it, you've all found me things that needed fixing. No need to chase ports any more, just telnet or ssh to tlp.zapto.org and login as bbs:bbs it'll forward you to the first free BBS node.

Also have http://pineapple.zapto.org (no I couldn't get apple or apple2) got some guff about my history with 2's and a new searchable database of peripheral
cards. Its not very full yet, but give it time, and of course the obligatory page of links to other A2 sites.

I wonder if you have the full screen editor enabled. That fires off ANSI codes, you should get garbage not nothing though. I see empty messages after you leave.

Have to admit I don't know how you do it, things don't seem to like you. I can't replicate those faults. Tetris won't crash for me no matter what I do to it. Message editing generally is a bit of a walk in the park, but I'll check the full screen editor setting on your account.

Now we're definately stable.
File areas have files in them. I've gone for ShrinkIt files, not diskimages.
Online Games - These have been difficult, but whats there works.
Message base is all good.

Update: Pinapple pineapple.zapto.org

A2 Hardware Database is coming along nicely, it has some 251 entries.
Search works, but its not terribly smart yet.
Good list of links.
And last but not least... a guestbook to sign.

The hardware database is probably as good as its going to get unless
I find someone to help with php code. Its a pain the .... you can search
it'll give you the results with a thumbnail image, clicking on the one you like/are looking for will give you all the information available on that card.

Popped in some photos and a page for Clone-E, and weirdly enough, I put up a selection of floppy images too. I saw a few that I've never seen before, and some that were like old friends. So... in they went.

tlp.zapto.org

despite reports that we're nice and stable, I think it is stable. I had to
lose one of the online games, it looked right, but doesn't play ball properly. Finally found a full screen editor that works. If you want to use it, you'll
need to re-enable it from settings menu.

Of course this only works if someone logs in with ProTerm.

Ok, so I've managed to get to TLP with ProTerm, unfortunately those screens as nice as they might've looked in the editor, don't render properly. Stick to ASCII for now.

A second oddity is that no file transfers will work either. I have successfully downloaded files from a win7 box, using either telnet client, or SyncTerm but Proterm won't and Apple Access wouldn't download any files. Unclear what the issue is there.

Stuff to work on.

If you are interested in an animated ProTERM title page, you can try the PTTG command on my BBS (dura-bbs.net:6359). It will generate your title which you can then download via xmodem (along with a GBBS code snippet demonstrating how to detect ProTERM upon connection, don't know if that would be needed or useful for your board0>

That sounds promising. I still haven't gotten a roundtuit for fixing my current ones yet. CloneE is still waiting for his new brain. If I was tricky I could feed all my menus through your creator :) I'll have a look.

Unfortunately the terminal detection is hard coded, it'll only detect for ANSI which usually fails over TCP/IP for some reason. Once you log in it gives you whatever you've chosen.

The system I'm using really only knows ANSI/ASCII but it has "language" files. If you're tricky you can use the language files to specify different emulation menus. The BBS still thinks its pushing ansi/ascii menus out, but in reality its sending whatever you want it to send. All hitched up to the same menus.

Hi, when you mention "terminal detection is hard coded", are you referring to your BBS? :)

Yes, the ancient DOS software I'm using only detects for ANSI automagically, but isn't doing it very well.

Documents indexed 261, going apace, but those tech notes turn into a chore. Searchable II & GS library.
