1. 202 Alliance - Cracked by Kilroy Wuzhere

2. 202 Alliance with Montreal Cats Club "Brought to you in Canada by Mr Silicon"

3. Apple Trading Club - "The ATC / The Institute 206-246-9098"

Just wondering if anyone else out there has seen any other versions? (1 & 2 are on Asimov, 3 was on my personal disks back in the day).

Frank,

Where on Asimov is [2] 202 Alliance with Montreal Cats Club "Brought to you in Canada by Mr Silicon" ?

I haven't see the latter two but is your [1] 202 Alliance krack version the one with the hidden easter egg krack text screens?
i.e.
To view the hidden krack message from The Crackon to The Fly (Text strings @ $8100)

BLOAD MARIO BROS
CALL-151
806G

After you are left staring at the graphics page. Type

C051
E000G

It looks there are 3 copies of it on Asimov:

WITH the hidden message:
../images/games/file_based/cannonballblitz_mariobros_montezu masrevenge.dsk
../images/games/file_based/Mario Bros,Moon Patrol.dsk
../images/games/file_based/spyhunter_and_mario.dsk
../images/games/action/mario_bros.dsk

NOTES:

* cannonballblitz_mariobros_montezumasrevenge.dsk does NOT boot
* Mario Bros,Moon Patrol.dsk has "MARIO BROS." (period on the end of the filename)
* spyhunter_and_mario.dsk has the S-S catalog program
* mario_bros.dsk has a DOS that displays: C1983 DSR C#vol in the catalog. Guess that's another DOS3.3 derivative to track down.

Lots of overwritten names, and none of them actually cracked it anyway.
The game was never sold, and I think that it was never completed, either.

The one that says "<:-:> THE 202 ALLIANCE <:-:>" twice on the screen?
Just press ESC when that comes up to see the easter egg.

Oh nice Steve! Nice tidbit, thanks!

I discovered it by accident back in the 80's -- haven't had time to track down what triggered it.

Ah, here we go. Code is at $871E

8717: RTS
8718: JSR $FDF0 ; COUT+3
871B: LDA KEYBOARD
871E: CMP #$9B ; ESC
8720: BEQ $8726
8722: INC
8723: JMP $86F4
8726: JSR $0806 ; secret easter egg
8729: JMP $8717 ; Oh really?! JMP to RTS?!

So what ever happened to that disk Jimmy Huey had that was labeled as the final version? He showed it off when the Sword of Sodan disks were released.

The lack of copyright suggests to me that someone simply erased the crack text. Still, it's as good as any for a ProDOS version.

This version is missing the "Escape" text that shows, and also loads to a different area of memory, unlike all the others ($0949), and is smaller. But who knows?

"MARIO.BROS:MARIO.BROS.ORIG" "$0949" 30390 - Original?
"MARIO.BROS:MARIO.BROS.ATC" "$0803" 32588 - Frank's version
"MARIO.BROS:MARIO.BROS.DR" "$0803" 32588
"MARIO.BROS:MARIO.BROS.202" "$0803" 32588 - most commonly seen?
"MARIO.BROS:MARIOBROS202MCC" "$0803" 32725
"MARIO.BROS:MARIOBROS202LWK" "$0803" 32767 - just send to me by Rob Justice

If anyone is interested, here's a link with the various versions...
