Hello,

For the IIgs it is rather simple.
If you have the full set of GSOS 6.0.1 Floppy disc you can format, partitioning, initialisation and installation without any other needs if you have the Apple SCSI Card Rev C(not High Spoed)
If you have the high speed card you need Apple SCSI Tools 2 on a separate floppy Disk.
In both case it is not possible to create one System Boot Floppy with all needed files on it.
Including HFS.FST for large partitions, the SCSI drivers and the Advanced Hard Disk Utility
But the Apple IIgs has a wonderful RAM Disk, you can use use for the first installation.
Go to the gs console and aktivate RAM Disk (2400k)
Go to Slot configuratio and set boot device on slot 6. you force boot from Floppy.
Put in GSOS 6 install Disk and boot from.
In Installation dialog select RAM Disk as Target.
Install the system 6 in RAMDISK.
Use custom installation to add HFS.FST and Advanced Disk Utility.
After quit installation you can switch to console and configure slot boot from ram.
Reset system and reboot! Not switch off power!
Normally system 6 boots directly from RAMDISK.
If you have SCSI Card Rev C ( not high speed)
You can directly start Advanced Disk Utils and do formatting and partitioning.
If you have the high speed version. You have todo the setup from SCSI Tools 2 Disk. Reboot again ( not power off!) and start the Advanced Disk Utility tool.
If you have do partitioning successfully go to console again and change boot slot to 6
Insert Install System 6 Floppy again and install System on your 1st GDOS Partition.
If you have your SCSI Card in Slot 7 with ID you can change in console slot boot to „scan“ normally next boot is directly from your Hard Disk.
Desktop Shows all partitions including your big HFS

Best regards Thorsten
