No. Most of them are just a subtype of a type of gag show. "Ranma 1/2" is
a go-to example of the type. What sets "Princess Holy Aura" apart from all
of those is that it's not a gag show (novel). It's not a comedy. It's a
drama with a helping of eldritch horror.

That was my intent, certainly. Oh, there's some laughs in there -- "ARE
YOU COMPLETELY BLIND???" -- but as a whole it's a serious examination of
the mahou shoujo genre.

There's an Australian cartoon of this genre called SheZow about a boy who
inherits a magical girl's talisman. A couple of his friends know his secret
and one of them, a girl, has to give him tips on how to act more like a
girl whilst he's in his transformed state.
