geoGopher 1.0 is now available. It's a gopher client for GEOS and
requires a Flyer network card (more cards may be supported in subsequent
releases). For more information and disk image downloads, see this page:

https://www.lyonlabs.org/commodore/onrequest/geos/geoGopher/

On the server side, I've provided gophermaps for Bruce Thomas'
geoSpecific collection, so Flyer-enabled GEOS users can browse and
search the collection and download individual files in native GEOS format.

There's the rub... Without a new production of the Commodore Flyer
or even a Comet internet modem, then geoGopher cannot reach the
masses.

As the web page says, "the code was written with device drivers in mind,
and for the next version, I'd like to write a driver for the C64Net
wireless card (a.k.a. 'BoModem')". I did the Flyer first because it's so
easy to write for and allowed me to concentrate on the program's logic.
The ESP family of wireless cards seem like obvious low-hanging fruit for
additional drivers, as they're very fashionable these days.

But Flyer owners can be among the first to experience the awesome power
of gopher on a Commodore 64!
