Back in the 1990's, the SGI Indy systems shipped with the
IndyCam, which one generally placed on top of the monitor
pointed back at the user (for video conferencing). There
was an Indy in the SGI library (now the Google Campus in
Mountain View). Anyone could access the indy and turn on
the Indycam. One of the coporate VP's was caught boffing
an admin via the Indycam in the library :-)

No. Trackpads, unlike some elevator buttons, work by touching them and
bringing into contact strips connected by a different level of resistance
to the power and ground.
Even without skin flaking off, on a dry day, you could still have static
electricity, which might mess things up.

I didn't get into the woods. There was a black bear in my area but

Depends on the era, early ones had no dialogue, but some later ones
had dialogue. I prefer the early ones - especially the Fred Quimby ones.

In later years they had Tom and Jerry talking... it was better without
that.

Mr. Jinks to you. :-)

You might have been thinking of Tom and Jerry.

No, I see Tom and Jerry on Boomerang, well, I skip them, but I
typically see the promo after Bugs Bunny's time on the channel is over
with befere I change channels.

I think I stopped watching cartoons before Tom and Jerry had dialogue.
I tried to watch PBS' cartoons recently; they are awful.

Boomerang, if you get it, has an hour of the old Looney Toons in the
morning and again in the afternoon.

First it was Hanna-Barbera with the cheap made-for-tv animation, and then
political correctness overcame cartoons so they're mostly just not funny
anymore.

I was going to note that, but I saw you had done so already.
I wondered if Mr. Jinks' first name was Hiram. A web search found no
confirmation of that, but it turned up other interesting tidbits.
A 1913 movie, Fool Luck, starred Dave Coburn as a human character named Mr. Jinks.
And in the '50s, there was a forgotten TV series, based on a book
by the author Paul Gallico, titled The Adventures of Hiram Holliday. It
starred the well-known character actor Wally Cox.

1) I believe you.
2) You wouldn't use _that_ kind of joy stick to control a computer anyways.
3) As for the other kind of joystick, the ones I've seen had potentiometers in
them, and hooked up to the game port on early IBM PCs. There are current gaming
joysticks that look like a mouse, but I haven't used one of those. I have,
however, tried a *trackball* as a substitute for a mouse. They're hard to find
these days, though; not many people prefer them.

And then the Japanese hit. Some of theirs actually get censored for
US release.

I never heard of that TV show. I liked all of Gallico's books.
