The Curse of the First Show of the New Anime Season has struck again and it's much more horrifying than any of the curses in the first episode of the new series “Ito Junji Collection”, an anthology adaption of horror manga stories by Ito Junji. The real horror in the first episode was just how blah the episode was. It was a mildly dark comedy that was like a weak Saturday Night Live skit crossed with a run-of-the-mill teen Internet troll. Worst of all it was dull. It plodded along from one lethargic joke to another without any sense of pacing. And then the second short-short story took dullness to a new low albeit in a mercifully short period of time.

Ito Junji's work in general doesn't do anything for me, and this new adaptation just continues the trend. I don't care about the characters, I don't find the horrors scary, I don't find the humour funny and I don't care for the animation design. There's nothing here for me so I won't be back and my final rating is C-.
