Reagan -> Bush -> Trump

This does not bode well for the remainder of the series.

Nah, too far left. How about:

Reagan -> Bush -> Bush -> Trump -> Duke/Spencer

He seems a bit stupid, but people should stop focusing on his tweets and
concentrate on opposing, or supporting, policies they (dis)agree with and
not focus on the trivia. Democrats will absolutely not go along with any of
his policies, even ones they may agree with, in an attempt to make
political points, rather than trying to do something for the country.
Everyone needs to try compromise.

Only in some things, and what those things are is often in dispute.
Deciding these things is much of the work the Supreme Court does.

All we need now is Oprah! If people think there is a lot of "resistance" to
Trump, just wait. Why the heck can't we get a middle-of-the-roader. We
need to abolish the primary system.

It is called the Dunning-Kreuger effect. Worth a quick google.

"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be
a fool" As You Like it. Shakespeare
"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge"

You mean like the Republicans compromised with Obama?

It's getting there but is unconstitutional.

As far as I can tell, the Democrats in Congress have tried to
compromise. But the Republicans in Congress see their ideas as a
compromise, or they exclude Democrats and Independants fomr any
legislative discussion. The Republicans have embraced the lunatic
right.

Yeah, any time an African-American runs for office, its seen as
terrible. What we should see as terrible is the lunatics. That means
curently the Republicans. And the Clintons are Conservative, not
Liberal, just to the right of center. The only president we elected
that could be considered Leftist was FDR. And he did some right wing
things.

I think legalizing it was a bad idea. And there are federal
anti-marajuana laws. So Feds do have priority in this matter over
states. I'm rather surprised it has gone on this long. I can see it
for medical purposes as dealing with cancer chemotherapy, if someone
actually needs it for that.

And I thought the whole states rights over federal law was decided in
the US between 1860 and 1865.

People keep saying this, but "it's still an apple." I can think of at least
one african-american woman I had hoped woud run - Condi Rice.

I think it's a terrible idea. Pushed by potheads who use the medical thing
as a smokescreen. The last thing we need is more people looped out on drugs
of any kind. On the other hand, I'm not sure whether this should be a state
or a federal issue.

No. It was more decided when the feds decided to apply the "interstate
commerce" thing to just about anything, but the right supreme court will
rein this in.

We absolutely need passenger rail, both short and long distance.
Passenger rail is safer than the automobile, takes up far less
ground space, and is far more energy efficient and environmentally
friendly.

Ridership is growing on many metropolitan commuter rail systems
as well as Amtrak. If more and higher quality service was offered,
ridership would grow even further. There are numerous developed
travel corridors where passenger train service would do very well.
Amtrak has plans on the shelf for expansion, however, Congress won't
allow it. Indeed, Congress is hostile, and doing everything it can
to _reduce_ service quality (such as eliminating on-board food
service, a necessity on long distance trains), and failing to
allow Amtrak the environment to run on-time free from freight
train interference.

Yeah, it interferes with their addiction to smartphones, and thus
threatens The Economy.

It's time to treat it like booze. Not that booze legislation is
sensible, but at least it's a bit less hysterical.

The only difference between legal and illegal drugs is whether
the government gets a cut.

Common misconception. Law is decided in the courtroom, not on the
battlefield.

Personally I do not see black markets as a good thing. The drug laws
have created a black market in drugs. They don't keep anybody who
wants them from getting them, they just ensure that they will be sold
by violent criminals and not by law abiding taxpayers.

Yeah, we desperately need to spend money running more and more emptier
and emptier trains.

Generally well established lines where rail makes sense.

If they do that then the freight lines are just going to charge so
much for the use of their tracks that Amtrak goes broker.

Precisely, it's not a question of whether or not people smoke pot,
it's a question of who gets their money, organised crime or government. The
big difference being that organised crime doesn't lock people up for
dealing with the government.

Holy crap. The queen of obfuscation.
Yeah, that would be just great.
That makes perfect sense, take someone that was a key participant in
perhaps the worst thing the USA has ever done and make her president.
Tell us, was it the enhanced lying?

Saw Trump display his negotiation super powers last night.
I think he was drawn to the word "clean".

I think if it's legal a lot more people will use it. Are they going to
advertise on TV? I've seen from TV clips from the pot shops that they're
giving the varieties cutsey names which would appeal to kids. It's like the
dam burst and people are going crazy.

Yeah, like the empty acela, ACE, Capitol Corridor and PATH trains.

There are others who use it for persistent pain.

I don't have a problem with people using it for medicinal purposes.
My problem is that the second hand smoke would be very detrimental
to me; I go to sleep and can't be woken.

On the other hand, there are certain dealings with the government (e.g.
informing) for which they'll kill you.

From the Globe and Mail:
Ms. Winfrey is also compassionate, informed and rational,
all qualities which in this day and age could make her candidacy
less viable.

The numbers should be in by now from Washington and Colorado.
There were certainly no visible problems in Seattle last time I was there,
if anything there seem to be fewer people smoking it around the back of
Pioneer Square than there were before it was legal.

The cutesy names have been around since the Dutch plant breeders
got going back in the 70s.

Well, of course.

Circular reasoning on your part.
