The September and October 1983 issues of BYTE had an article on building
your own Solid state video camera with enough resolution to read text.
Interface was for Apple II+ and IBMPC, but the camera sells ready-made
for the C64 (check ads in same issues).  Cost for this last was around
$800 or so.
