My nephew, Dustin, is three and has suffered from cerebral palsy
since birth. I can't describe all of his medical problems, but
suffice it to say he has 'very limited' I/O capablilites (e.g.,
some movement in left arm and head, no vocal capabilities).
He is very bright however. The bottom line here is that I
want to get up to speed quickly on computer software and
interfaces designed for use with severely handicapped people
like Dustin. It is apparent that his only hope to interact with his family
and society in a meaningful way is through a computer. All suggestions
will be appreciated. Please mail rather than posting to the net.
Thanks in advance.

The new version of RoseSoft's PROKEY (for the IBM PC)
allows the keyboard to be customized for one-hand operation,
including keyshifting. RoseSoft specifically intended to provide
customization for handicapped people. The PROKEY software can
be used with many popular software packages to provide customized
keyboard input.

You didn't give a mail address, so here is info via the net: contact the TRACE
Center at the Univ. of Wisconsin. They maintain a current file of all commercial
and experimental I/O systems for communication aids for the handicapped
including computer interfaces.

If you need more help, message me via net or mail.
