Mitsubishi Pencil will reduce its 7700 line to only one color: Red.

Three other colors will be cut: orange, yellow-green and pale blue.

The Association of Japanese Animators is against that. A lot of
animators still use pencil and paper for their art besides the digital
tools, they say. This is one of the main differences to US-animators.

The reason seems to be shortage of raw material. Which material it is,
isn't told by Mitsubishi Pencil, because it is a trade secret.

The red pencils are still a business, because they are used by
architects, too.
