I have a pet theory about comedians. They are significantly more likely
to be desperately unhappy than people in most other jobs because only a
desperately unhappy person tries so hard to be funny so often. And also
assholes. Minare's roommate (who is unfailingly nice and considerate)
tells her she likes living with Minare because Minare is so insensitive
and inconsiderate she finds it refreshing and liberating just to watch
her.
Not that Minare's father isn't also an asshole and a drunk. When she
asks him what's with her weird name first he tells her some pun about
porno magazines and then claims her name was created by combining the
names of the three mistresses he broke up with right before her birth.
It's weird how the meaning of Japanese names changes depending on what
symbols you use to write the syllables, so that Minare can't figure out
her name means "to cause laughter". Another hint of course that she's
the daughter of that dead comic performer.

I wonder what brings this here but many comedians suffer from
bipolar syndrome and other problems such as the one that resulted in
Robin Williams taking his own life.
Unhappy has causes beside simply being.
bliss - bipolar but cannot stand up long enough to be
a comedian nor run away if the crowd gets angry.

i have been following this for a while (mostly as the manga) and it has
become one of my favorite series. It is a slow burn and then revels in
some utterly bizarre situations. Took me a while to get into it, but it
is delightful.
