Last week I added about 680 Apple III files to the Mac GUI Vault collection.
There's nothing new here; they're all files from other sites.

https://macgui.com/downloads/?cat_id=713

What's new is that these files, mostly disk images, are now tied into the
Spyglass disk-browsing system at Mac GUI, meaning that you can click through
these Apple III disk images and directly link to files within the disk
image.

Here is a Washington Apple Pi disk selected at random:
https://macgui.com/spyglass/r/2900e8cfa484aa25

And here is a link to an ASCII text file within that disk:
https://macgui.com/spyglass/r/2900e8cfa484aa25/PRODOS.SOS?f= DnJxa2FpdAZ6ZXg&fk=a8b7ebd862

Spyglass gives every disk file and subdirectory its own permanent URL.

Spyglass can also be used with any disk image that is accessible via an
HTTP, HTTPS, or FTP URL. Simply paste the URL into the main Spyglass page
and see what happens:
https://macgui.com/spyglass/

David,

That's pretty cool!

One thing -- I fed it a url to an .shk file, and although it cataloged
fine, clicking on the .TXT files contained therein gave me a 'Content
Error' in the Firefox browser.

Example URL:
< http://home.earthlink.net/~hughhood/appleworksinitpack/awini ts2017.shk>

It did it for both the 'normal' text files, as well as for the 'wonky'
Merlin source text files.

Only LZW/1 compression is supported in ShrinkIt files. That archive has its
files compressed with LZW/2. I started working on porting LZW/2 from Java to
PHP a few years back but never finished.

Thanks for bringing this up, because I'd forgotten that I never finished the
work. I will take a look at the code this weekend and see if I can get it
finished or not.

I did check, and the LZW/2 decompressor is partially working. There's some
aspect of clearing the dictionary or not clearing the dictionary that I
don't have implemented correctly yet. I'll spend some more time on this, as
I'm close to getting this code working.
