Google books is weird. Some volumes are viewable but many of the
same title are restricted to 'snippet view' which is worthless.
That is, the 1952 volume of Railway Age might be available, but the
1953 volume may be restricted.
The indexing is strange, too. For instance, if you search on
"Remington Rand", you'll get a few hits but miss many entries.
On the other hand, you'll get hits which are wrong (no Remington
entry).
But I must admit it's a treasure trove of historical information.
The collections of "Michigan Technic" and "Railway Signaling
& Communications" are loaded with juicy old ads and articles
on technology.
As an aside, the relatively more recent Technic's have ads
recruiting engineers. They all promise positive atmospheres
of interesting research and room for growth. (Some engineering
jobs were boring grunt work). I wonder if modern engineering
jobs and recruitment still offer a positive atmosphere, I suspect
not.

Oh well, I might as well ignore books.google links, if it shows
different things to different people ...

But that's what happiness is!

Seriously: some of the links shown here are valid in other countries, and at
least those have been very interesting.
